AUG. - NOV. 2007 CALENDAR
Khensur Rinpoche Ngawang Jorden is both the
121st Abbot, as well as the youngest Abbot in the long history of the
Gyuto Tantric Monastery. When Rinpoche was 16 years old he became a monk at Sera
Mey Monastery in
After receiving his Geshe degree he joined the Gyuto Monastery for further Tantric studies. Rinpoche is considered to be a Sera Mey monk because that is where he was first ordained and educated. In 1999 Rinpoche was appointed Vice-Abbot of the Gyuto Monastery by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for three years and then as full Abbot for an additional three years. During this six year Abbot term he taught Tantric teachings both at the Gyuto Monastery and Sera Monastery.

Continued Teachings on The Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of
Life:
These teachings on the Bodhisattva's deeds are based on the great Indian master, Shantideva's inspirational verses on Mahayana aspiration and practice. In the whole of Tibetan Buddhism there is no single text more deeply revered nor widely practiced than this one. This great teaching will be held every other Thursday night and everyone is welcome.

Vajrayogini
Empowerment: Vajrayogini is the inner essence of the Heruka
Chakrasamvara Tantra. She is the
feminine manifestation of Divine Wisdom.
Vajrayogini controls anger and lust.
She has cut up reality with her
cleaver of wisdom and consumes it in the cup of inseparable bliss and
emptiness. Genuine reliance on
Vajrayogini quickly bestows realization and the ability to travel to the Pure
Lands.
Prerequisites: Participants must have received one of the Highest
Yoga Tantra initiations, such as Kalachakra, Gyuyasamaja, Chakrasamvara and
Yamantaka. Commitment:
mantra recitation three, seven or 21 times
daily.
Vajrayogini Commentary (Six Sundays 7 - 9
PM)
Prerequisite: Participants are required to have received one of the Highest Yoga Tantra initiations in order to attend these commentary teachings.
Commitments: Long or Short Sadhana recitation of Vajrayogini or at least daily Six Session Guru Yoga recitation. There is no fee, but donation is most welcome.
Buddha
Shakyamuni Empowerment:
The Buddha is the founder of Buddhism and is known as Buddha Shakyamuni. "Shakya" is the name of the royal family into which he was born, and "Muni" means "Able One."
Practicing Dharma is the supreme method for improving the quality of our human life. If we integrate the Buddha's teachings into our daily life we will be able to solve our inner problems and attain a truly peaceful mind. All the problems we experience during daily life originate from ignorance, and the method for eliminating ignorance is to learn and practice the Dharma. No prerequisites no commitment. Everyone is welcome.

Commentary on the Guru
Puja (Lama

Prerequisite: All participants must have received one of the Highest Yoga Tantra initiates such as Kalachakra, Gyuyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, Yamantaka or Vajrayogini in order to receive this teaching.
Commitment: Daily recitation of the Six Session Guru Yoga.
Buddha's
Descent from Tushita Heaven (Lhabub Duchen):
It
was on this day that Buddha Shakyamuni descended from the Tushita Heaven and
prayed to liberate all sentient beings without exception from the sufferings of
the six realms. It is said that if
we pray and practice on this auspicious day with the right motivation, the
benefit of our actions will be greater then any other day. Everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring flowers, candles and
cookies for offering.

Vajrasattva
Practice:
The Vajrasattva practice is the most powerful purification practice in daily life. If one practice sincerely with the correct motivation, all the negatives we have accumulated in this life and previous lives can be removed. We will be reciting and chanting the Vajrasattva mantra. Everyone is welcome to join the practice, but please register by email: info@gyutocenter.org or call: (408) 926 9430 A vegetarian lunch will be provided and we request $30.00 donation per person to cover the cost.
