The Path to Bliss (Lamrim Teaching)

The Lamrim is a special set of instructions that includes all the essential teachings of the Buddha. These instructions are easy to understand and practice, and can readily be applied to solving the problems of everyday life. Rinpoche will be giving this teaching every other Thursday night and everyone is welcome. There are no fees for the teachings but donations are most welcome.

Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life

These teachings on the bodhisattva's deeds are based on the great Indian master Shantideva's inspirational verses on Mahayana aspiration and practice. In the whole of Tibetan Buddhism there is no single text more deeply revered nor widely practiced than this one. Everyone is welcome.

All the teachings will be translated into the Chinese and Vietnamese language. Those wishing translation services should bring their own FM radio. All the teachings are free but any amount of donation will be greatly appreciated. Everyone is welcome.

Second Annual Lama Appreciation Dinner on Nov. 12:

Last year's Lama Appreciation Dinner was such a success we have decided to make it an annual event in order to help support the flourishing of the Dharma in Silicon Valley.

We are very happy that the following Lamas will be participating in the event:

Ven. Dhakpa Rinpoche,
Ven. Choden Rinpoche,
Ven. Lama Zopa Rinpoche,

as well as many Sangha members from different Dharma Centers around the Bay Area.

Once again it will take place at Ming's Restaurant 1700 Embarcadero Rd. Palo Alto CA 94303 and we would like to request all of our members and friends to join this fundraising event for Gyuto Center.

We hope that you will be able to join this event on Saturday, November 12, at 6.30 pm - 9 pm along with your friends and family. There will be a delicious ten course vegetarian meal, a short dharma talk by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Tibetan music. Vajrapani Empowerment:

Vajrapani is a manifestation of the spiritual power of all enlightened beings. If we receive this empowerment with a pure motivation and deep faith it will bestow special blessings that will heal our mental continuum and awaken our Buddha nature. By meditating on the tantric practice of Vajrapani we gain the spiritual power to subdue our negative minds, and in particular to overcome our self-grasping ignorance, the root of all our delusions and problems.

This is suitable for anyone with a sincere interest in following the Buddhist path to enlightenment.

There are no prerequisites or commitments for this teaching.

This event will take place at the DharmaGates, Center.

Phowa Teaching:

Phowa is the "transference of consciousness at the time of death" and is the Tibetan Buddhist method for ensuring that one attains a better rebirth, liberation or enlightenment after the present life ends. Through a combination of breath, mantra, and visualization techniques applied at the time of death, the consciousness is ejected from the crest aperture, the crown of the head, avoiding rebirth in cyclic existence. From this gate one's consciousness can be transferred directly to the pure land of Buddha Amitabha. Death is inevitable, but how you die whether terrified and confused or with confidence and spiritual mastery is within your control. Everyone is welcome.

There are no prerequisites or commitments for this teaching.

This event will take place at the DharmaGates, Center.

Medicine Buddha Puja (Buddha's Descent from Tushita Heaven)

It was on this day that Buddha Shakyamuni descended from the Tushita Heaven and prayed to liberate all sentient beings without exception from the sufferings of the six realms. It is said that if we pray and practice on this auspicious day with the right motivation the benefit of our actions will be far greater then on nearly any other day. Everyone is welcome. Members can bring flowers, candles and cookies for offering. Please avoid meat, alcohol, garlic, and eggs on this day.
