8 July Event at Gyuto Vajrayana Center
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to announce that Dhakpa Tulku Rinpoche has returned to be the resident
teacher at the Gyuto Vajrayana Center. Rinpoche is expected to be with us through November
2004 after which he will return to India.
As we are arranging Rinpoche’s teaching schedule we want to let you know what is happening
in July, and give you an idea of what is planned for the rest of his stay.
July schedule
Tibetan Class
Gen Jampa will teach 8 new classes on basic Tibetan
Saturday July 10th, 2 pm to 3:30 pm
Venerable Jampa Thaye is one of the senior Gyuto monks who left Tibet for exile in 1959.
Recently Ven. Jampa was requested by the monastery to come to San Jose and help Donyo at
the Gyuto Center. We have asked him to give Tibetan classes to our devoted members who
wish to read the Tibetan text for their Dharma practice. This class is free but we request
that you register in advance. The class is limited to those already enrolled in the program.

Lam Rim
Sunday July 11th; 7 pm to 9 pm
Rinpoche will continue his teachings on the Lam Rim using as a text “The Essence of Refined Gold”.
This is a dual commentary, with the Fourteenth Dalai Lama’s explanations of the Third Dalai
Lama’s commentary on Lama Tsongkhapa’s “Great Exposition on the Stages of the Spiritual Path”.
Guru Puja with Tsog Offering
Monday July 12th; 7 pm to 8 pm
Twice monthly, on the 10th and 25th of the lunar calendar, the practice of Tsog Offering is
done. It is a commitment for those practicing Highest Yoga Tantra to restore and reaffirm
their vows and pledges. Everyone is welcome to attend this ritual of making offerings to the
Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Those participating can bring offerings such as fruits, cookies,
flowers and candles.
Mahakala Puja
Friday July 16th, 9 am to 12 pm
Every month, based on the lunar calendar, Ven. Dhakpa Rinpoche and the monks perform a
Mahakala puja dedicated to the Center's members, friends and all sentient beings. It is
said that when Avalokiteshvara realized that his peaceful methods were too mild to subdue
all degenerate beings, he decided that a wrathful form would be better to accomplish his
compassionate intentions. Everyone is welcome.

Medicine Buddha Puja
Wednesday July 21st; 10 am to 12 pm
This Puja will mark the anniversary of Buddha’s First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma

Thursday July 29th; 7 pm to 9 pm
The Six-Session Guru Yoga practice is a daily commitment for those who have been initiated
into Highest Yoga Tantra. This practice is designed as a method to help us keep all the
bodhisattva and tantric vows and pledges properly in order to make progress on the spiritual path.
Tibetan Class
Saturday July 31st, 2 pm to 3:30 pm
Gen Jampa continues his class on basic Tibetan
Mandala and Hand Mudra Class
Saturday July 31st, 7 pm to 8 pm
A class to teach how to correctly perform the Mandala Offering and Hand Mudra rituals
