Your Words or Action In Life

Event at Gyuto Vajrayana Center

Dear Friends,

Here are the Gyuto Center programs for August 4th to August 14, 2004

Six Armed Mahakala Puja
Wednesday 4th; 9 am to 12 pm

Venerable Dhakpa Rinpoche and the venerable monks will be performing a Mahakala Puja dedicated to the Center's members, friends and all sentient beings.

Thirty Seven Bodhisattva Practices, part 1
Thursday 5th; 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Composed by the great Sakya master, Togmey Zangpo 1245-1369), the text describes the thirty-seven activities and

conduct of a bodhisattva. Although we are not yet spiritually realized as a bodhisattva, if we train in the path as described by Togmey Zangpo, we will move inevitably towards the experience of bodhicitta and be able to work perfectly for the welfare of all sentient beings. This text is considered to be such a perfect exposition that the author is believed to be a fully realized being and reverentially referred to as Bodhisattva Togmey Zangpo.

Tibetan Class for Beginners
Saturday 7th; 2 pm to 3:30 pm

This class is designed to help our devoted members who wish to read the Tibetan text for their Dharma practice. This class is free but we request that you register in advance. The class is limited to 10 students. Each course is an eight-week course held every Saturday from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. The first course was held in April-May 2004. Due to popular demand, Gen Jampa has agreed to continue teaching this class. The second course will be held in July-August 2004.

Calm Abiding and Special Insight, part 1
Sunday 8th; 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

To meditate and gain realizations on the path, we need a strong and penetrative mind. Rinpoche will teach two powerful methods to cultivate this in order to develop a strong foundation for meditation practice. The first is Calm Abiding, Shamatha, in which we train the mind in single-pointed concentration. The second is to apply the technique of analytical meditation to ultimately gain clear insight, Vipasyana, into the nature of reality.

Guru Puja (Tsog Offering)
Tuesday 10th; 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Twice monthly, based on the lunar calendar, the practice of Tsog Offering is done. It is a commitment for those practicing Tantra to restore and reaffirm their vows and pledges. Everyone is welcome to attend this ritual of making offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Those participating can bring offerings such as fruit, cookies and flowers.
