So-called because we generate equanimity, love, compassion, and joy towards an immeasurable number of sentient beings, this practice is an integral part of Tibetan Buddhism. As thoughts and feelings that open our heart towards ourselves and others, they are the foundation of bodhicitta, the altruistic intention that seeks enlightenment so that we can benefit all sentient beings most effectively.

Commentary on the Thirty-Five Buddha Practices

Dhakpa Tulku Rinpoche will teach a commentary on the Thirty-Five Buddha practices.

The confession practice to the 35 Buddhas is derived from a text called The Bodhisattva’s Confession of Downfalls. During his lifetime, the great Lama Tsongkhapa engaged in extensive purification through reciting this sutra and performing 100,000 prostrations to each of the 35 Buddhas, a total of 3 1/2 million prostrations. This practice is extremely important for clearing away past negativities, which are the cause for present and future suffering and obstacles in worldly or spiritual activities. It is an essential method for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Amitabha Buddha, whose name means Infinite or Boundless Light, is the principal deity of Sukhavati, the Blissful Pure Land of the West. Buddha Shakyamuni revealed that this pure land came into existence as a result of the stainless motivation and pure practices of Amitabha when, long ago, he was known as the bodhisattva Dharmakara. In another context, he is the embodiment of the enlightened speech of all the Buddhas. Ven. Dhakpa Rinpoche has kindly agreed to confer the Amitabha Buddha empowerment for students to receive the blessings and practice of this particular Buddha. This teaching will be translated from Chinese to English.

Tuesday, 28th
Twenty-one Tara Puja for Long Life and Prosperity
7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Tara is the principal female manifestation of enlightenment in the Buddhist tradition. She is specifically associated with practices designed to lengthen one's lifespan and overcome life-threatening hindrances. The Four Mandala Offering Ritual of Tara serves as a community practice. As Tara dispels personal and global obstacles, we come together to ensure the ongoing stability of the Center, its community and ourselves.

Everyone is welcome.

Thank you

Ven. Thupten Donyo
