So-Jong (Confession Ceremony for the ordained Sangha)
Within the Buddhist tradition every fifteen days (based on the lunar calendar) Buddhist monasteries and nunneries hold a confession ceremony to restore all broken pledges and to reaffirm their vows. This is a ceremony specifically for ordained Sangha members and all Sangha members are welcome to join us at the Gyuto Center. This particular ceremony is not designed for lay members and they are not required to attend this practice.
16 Arhats Puja
With this puja we call upon Shakyamuni Buddha and the 16 Arhats to continue to shower their compassion and protection upon sentient beings in samsara and ask them not to pass into nirvana. We praise the 16 Arhats who have attained freedom from the cycle of suffering and pray that they bless our glorious gurus with long lives and ask for their help so that the Dharma may flourish everywhere. Participants can bring fruits, cookies, flowers, candles, etc. for the altar.
The Path to Bliss (Lam Rim Teaching)
The Lam Rim (graduated path to enlightenment) is a special set of instructions that includes all the essential teachings of the Buddha. These instructions are easy to understand and practice, and can readily be applied to solving the problems of one's everyday life. Rinpoche will be giving this teaching every other Thursday night and everyone is welcome. There are no fees for the teachings but donations are most welcome.
Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life
These teachings on the bodhisattva's deeds are based on the great Indian master Shantideva's inspirational verses on Mahayana aspiration and practice. In the whole of Tibetan Buddhism there is no single text more deeply revered nor widely practiced than this one. This teaching will be held every other Sunday night and everyone is welcome.
Guru Puja (Tsog Offering)
This profound invocation ritual and offering to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is traditionally practiced on the 10th and 25th day of the lunar calendar. It is a commitment for those practicing Highest Yoga Tantra and restores vows and pledges. Everyone is welcome to attend. Taking part in the Guru Puja we reaffirm our vow to become enlightened so as to help all suffering beings. You are welcome to bring fruit, cookies, flowers, candles, etc. to offer.

NEW GYUTO CENTER WEBSITE
We are very happy to announce that we have launched a new website for the Gyuto Vajrayana Center. Our Director, Ven. Thupten Donyo has been hoping to create new and improved websites for both the Gyuto Monastery and the Gyuto Center for quite some time but was unable to find a volunteer to help design them. Additionally, the Center needed a highly professional website for His Holiness the Dalai Lama's upcoming visit to the Bay Area. Fortunately, Wolfgang Saumweber, an old Gyuto friend, heard that we were in dire need of a website designer and generously offered his time and the use of all the necessary software. Through the help of Wolfgang and other Gyuto Center students including Sally-Ann and Nigel, who began working with the content, we now have a beautiful new website look with a rich array of dharma information and sacred images. We are not yet completely finished as there are more details to be added, however Ven Donyo wants to express his deep appreciation to Wolfgang, as well as to Sally-Ann, Cyndee, Wendy, Vincent and Nigel for their help with the vision, design and content. Thank you all.
Thank you.
Ven. Thupten Donyo
