Notes on the Program
Lamrim means "the stages of the path to enlightenment".
It is a special set of instructions that includes all the essential teachings of Buddha. The instructions of
Lamrim are easy to understand and practice, and can readily be applied to solving the problems of daily life.
Through this practice eventually we shall attain freedom from all suffering and peace and the happiness of enlightenment.
All the teachings by Ven. Dhakpa Tulku Rinpoche will be translated into the Chinese language. Those wishing translation
services should bring their own FM radio.
Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life:
A poetic work which continues to be an inspiration to Buddhists, as well as to people of other faiths. "For as long
as space endures, for as long as living beings remain, until then may I too abide, to dispel the misery of the world."
The teachings on the bodhisattva deeds are based on Shantideva's inspirational verses on Mahayana aspiration and practice.
Composed over 1,000 years ago, they are still widely regarded as the most authentic and complete guide for the
practitioner dedicated to the enlightenment of all beings.
The Six Yogas of Naropa:
As Naropa is a lineage holder, the six meditative practices are strongly associated with the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan
Buddhism. The Six Yogas of Naropa (Inner Heat or Tumo, Illusory Body, Dream Yoga, Consciousness Transference, Forceful
Project, and Bardo Yoga) represent one of the most popular Tibetan Buddhist presentations of yogic technology. Lama
Tsongkhapa's Six Yogas of Naropa is an essential component of any comprehensive Buddhist studies collection and it practiced
in thousands of monasteries, nunneries and hermitages across Tibet and Central Asia. Every one is welcome. The teachings
by Ven. Dhakpa Tulku Rinpoche will be translated into Chinese language. Those wishing translation services should bring
their own FM radio receiver.
Phowa:
Phowa, “the transference of consciousness at the time of death,” is the Tibetan Buddhist method for ensuring that
one attains enlightenment after the present life ends. Through a combination of breath, mantra, and visualization
techniques applied at the time of death, the consciousness is ejected from the crest aperture or crown chakra,
avoiding rebirth in the six realms of cyclic existence. From this gate one’s consciousness can be transferred
directly to the pure land of Buddha Amitabha. Please note that this teaching will be covered in only one class
Thank you
