16 June Event at Gyuto Vajrayana CenterDear Friends,Here are the last teachings Ven. Lobsang Dorjee Rinpoche will give before leaving for India. June 17 Thursday Last day for water bowl offerings We are going to finish the water bowl offerings on June 17th at 6 pm. We have almost reached our goal of 100,000 water bowls and have lit more than 13,000 candle lights as offerings to the Buddhas during the month of Sakadawa to celebrate Buddha's birthday. We give thanks to all the members who came to participate in making these offerings. We are hoping that we can do the water bowl offering ceremony every year as part of the preliminary practices. June 17 Thursday 7 pm to 9 pm Vajrasattva Practice The Vajrasattva practice is the most powerful purification practice in daily life. Vajrasattva is the deity that embodies the purification powers of all the Buddhas. If one practice sincerely with the correct motivation, all the negativities we have accumulated in this life and previous lives can be removed. June 26 Saturday 6 pm to 7 pm Tara Puja (Tsog Offering) Tara is the principal female manifestation of enlightenment in the Buddhist tradition. She is specifically associated with practices designed to lengthen one's lifespan and overcome life-threatening hindrances. The Four Mandala Offering Ritual of Tara serves as a community practice. As Tara dispels personal and global obstacles, we come together to ensure the ongoing stability of the Center, its community and ourselves. This Tara Puja is dedicated to our teacher, Ven. Lobsang Dorjee Rinpoche, for his long life and good health. Surprise birthday party for Ven. Lobsang Dorjee Rinpoche 7 pm to 8 pm We are going to have a pot luck party to celebrate Rinpoche’s 68th birthday. Rinpoche will be leaving for India at the end of June and he may not be back again for at least a few years. Please note: We have changed the times of the puja and party from the original newsletter Extra note: As we expect many people will come to this event please be considerate of our neighbors when parking. June 27 Sunday 9 am 10 am Guru Puja (Tsog Offering) 10 am 12 pm Ven. Lobsang Dorjee Rinpoche will complete his teachings on the Four Noble truths This will be Rinpoche’s last teaching during his current visit. Thank you Ven.
