11 November 2003 Event at Gyuto Vajrayana CenterDear Friends,The Gyuto Center will celebrate Lhabub Duchen on Sunday, November 16th Lhabub Duchen The Day that Buddha Descended from the Tushita Heaven Sunday, November 16th, 9.00 am -10.00 am: Water Bowls & Light Offerings 10.00 am - 12.00 pm: Thirty Five Buddha Confession Prayers and Prostrations. All Buddhist countries pray and make offerings to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas on this auspicious day when Buddha Shakyamuni himself descended from the Tushita Heaven and prayed to liberate all sentient beings from the sufferings of the six realms. It says that if we pray and practice on this auspicious day with the right motivation the benefit of our actions will be far greater than on any other days. The Gyuto Center will be making extensive offerings such as hundreds of water bowls, candle lights, flowers and food offerings to the Buddhas for the benefit of all sentient beings. The venerable monks at the Center will lead the Thirty five Confession Buddha prayers followed by prostrations. By making these extensive offerings and doing physical prostrations we will purify all the negativities that we have committed in our past by our body speech and mind. The practice of the Thirty five Confession Buddhas is a very powerful practice and it is recommended that it should be done on a regular basis. The venerable monks at the Gyuto Center would like to invite you and your friends to celebrate Lhabub Duchen with us. You can come for the whole program or to either the first session of the water bowl offerings or the second session for the confession prayers and prostrations. What to bring Flowers, fruits, cookies and anything you can think of; but it should be fresh and clean. Parking at Gyuto Center When you come to the Center, please be so kind to park your car a few blocks away and walk to the Center. We have had some complaints from the neighbors about the traffic around the house and we want to respect their concerns.
